James Stuart
Mr. Sister Leather 2011
James’ first leather experience occurred after walking into a leather bar (The Iron Spur) in Garden Grove in 1977. After being mentored by a man in his fifties during the late 70’s he took a sabbatical from the leather community to explore the broader gay experience. After slowly gravitating back to his roots, he met his current lover of 24 years, Michael, at a leather contest at Mike’s Corral (now Pistons) in Long Beach. He’s been involved in the community in various ways. Besides volunteering for a number of AIDS related charities, he was a co-founder of the Long Beach Teams Project, a board member of Rhinestone, a Country Western benefit for Padua House, and currently is on the board of the Long Beach Leather Pride Festival, as well as a member of the L.A. Queer Interfaith Clergy Council.
